About the PELLET B Test
The PELLET B test measures skills that dictate successful performance once someone has become a peace officer. It’s an aptitude test that assesses language and reasoning skills. Both skills are critical for a peace officer to have on the job. There is a writing, reading, and reasoning assessment which you must score on to get the job. There is not a quick or easy way to improve skills on the exam, so you must come prepared.
What is the PELLET B test?
The PELLET B test involves three assessments that will dictate whether you are employed. The process also revolves around making sure future employees are held to a specific standard of skills that are crucial when on the job.
The three assessment exams included in the PELLET B are:
- Reasoning ability
- Reading ability
- Writing ability
Reasoning Ability
This assessment will have multiple-choice questions and present you with different information. The information you will see presented on the tests are things such as groups or series of facts, letters, numbers or words. You must analyze patterns, similarities, and relationships to how each thing works together. You will need to determine patterns and relationships that influence the presented arrangement of information.
Reading Ability
For this test you need to have a good reading comprehension. The first part of the test is on comprehension and will ask you about twenty questions. You will be presented with passages of different lengths. You will need to read the passages carefully and determine the best answer to the question. The passages cover common concepts and will include all information necessary to pick the right answer.
Writing ability
In the writing assessment, there are three sub-tests which will contain 18 different items. The clarity sub-test will present you with sentences and you will need to identify which sentence is most correctly written. This will also assess you on common writing errors. The spelling sub-test will give you a word and and you will need to determine where the word goes in a sentence. The vocabulary sub-test will test you on one word that is underlined, you may need to give the accurate synonym or definition of the word.
What is the PELLET B test format?
The PELLETB will start with the first two components focusing on language ability. It evaluates the candidates writing and reading abilities. The test will cover your clarity, vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension in various assessments. At the end of the test you will be assessed on your reasoning ability.
How to pass the PELLET B assessment?
- Be familiar with questions that may be asked on the test
- Practice regularly before taking the exam
- Read every question thoroughly
- Come to exam prepared by being well-rested
- Take your time when doing the exam
